The Optimist Pinot Noir 2020

New release from the stunning 2020 Vintage

Growing Pinot Noir for fine table wine is not for the faint hearted. 

This fickle beast tests your humor but when in harmony with the site and handled with care it will reward with elegant, nuanced wine telling the story of its place.

After hand harvesting by the Wairiki “family” the fruit was gently destemmed before transfer to a red fermenter and inoculated with our favorite yeast.

After a carefully managed ferment the wine was pressed to seasoned barrels for 8 months then blended to tanks for final maturation before bottling and cellar aging.

The 2020 Optimist exhibits fine dark berry fruit aromatics with almond tones, a slightly savory palate all supported by a harmonious Oak backbone.

Ideally matched with red meats, especially lamb, but try it with your favorite chocolate bar or fruit cake for something a bit different.

 Available in 6 and 12 count cartons that can be mixed with other Wairiki wines.
